By the time we arrived in Athens, got from the airport to the city, found our hotel, and checked in, the Acropolis was already closed for the day. But we walked all around it.
We also saw a strangely rustic Byzantine church and the ancient agora.
Then we wander the narrow streets of Plaka until well after dark. This is the old quarter (old but not ancient, not ruins but a very desirable district). Many of the streets are stairways; potted plants are everywhere, and there are even a few cats.
